Douglas Sherman has been an integral member of David Mancuso’s seminal Loft party in New York City, notably as David’s longest serving back-up musical host, having played countless parties over the years beginning in 1984. Douglas has a deep respect and appreciation for music and the importance of sound, to hear and experience music in the way that the artist intended without manipulation, emphasizing thematic development over beat matching.

Blank Forms’s Sixth Annual Benefit Gala honors the visionary artist and musician Charlemagne Palestine. Since the early 1960s, Palestine has paved a fiercely idiosyncratic path as a performer and polymath, exploring a wide array of approaches: hypnotic musical works for piano, organ, carillon, voice, and electronic drone; visceral and often confrontational works for the body; early experiments with videotape; wry and ecstatic installations, both large-scale and in miniature, that venerate “divinities,” his word for discarded stuffed animals.
